Dissolution

A dissolution is in essence a “no fault” divorce.

A petition for dissolution is not filed with the court until both parties have agreed to all the usual issues associated with a regular divorce: child custody, alimony, division of property, etc.

The advantage of a dissolution over a divorce is that it usually requires less expense and time, and is suited to individuals who have no major disagreements over the dissolution of the marriage.
